Max does the right thing

Today Mrs S received an email from Mushroom Records staff to say that the podcast can be uploaded all of term 2. Please come back in the next month and see the podcast and listen to the children singing "Home among the gum trees"

The podcast, in its original format, will only be available for three months. From term 3, the singing will be removed.

We have received news from APRA to tell us that we can use the jingles from Garage Band, however, we have contacted Mushroom Music to seek permission to listen to the children singing Max's favourite song and viewing some drawings.....

APRA have also informed Mrs S that she will require an APRA Only Licence to cover her for communication right (i.e. making the Podcast available over the web for download) if Mushroom Records provide her with a Synchronisation Licence .

It's getting very exciting Max....

In 2006, children from Max's home created a podcast. Max asked Mrs S what had happened to it. Mrs S replied...

"It is very important Max that we do not break laws when we create new things. I knew I had to check with APRA to make sure we did not do the wrong thing.

I have had to do four things:

1. I had to email APRA staff and answer some questions about the podcast. Some of the questions they asked were: Are you advertising on the podcast? Do you charge for people to see/hear the podcast? How long will the podcast be there? What is the podcast about? How much music is used in the podcast? and many more questions.

2. APRA staff have to check that the children could sing Max's favourite song on the podcast. There are people who work for APRA that check all these details.

3. APRA have to check that the sound effects within "Garage Band" (the software we used to make the podcast) that we used to make the podcast could be broadcast on the podcast.

4. APRA have to check that the pictures one of the children drew to accompany the singing of Max's favourite song can be seen as you listen to the song.

All this takes time Max.

When I know the answers to all of these questions, I will let you know."
