Max in East Timor - Houses (Part 1)

There are many different types of houses in East Timor.
Houses are built for different people : for Presidents, families, refugees.
Houses are built in different places : in cities, in the country, on mountains, by water.
Houses are built from different materials : wood, bricks, grass, canvas.

Here is the President's palace in the mountains just outside Dili. There is a teak tree at the front of the photo.

This is a small shop. It is also in the mountains just outside Dili. See the metal bars on the window for security. There’s no glass in the window because it’s so hot. The walls are concrete the floor is dirt and the roof is corrugated iron.

Max visited a mountain top town called Maubisse and stopped at this lovely old Portuguese ‘Posada’ or "Guest house" to have a cup of Timorese coffee. This "Posada" was built on top of a mountain for two reasons. First because it has beautiful views and secondly because it is a little bit cooler on top of the mountain. Can you see the roof is made of tiles and there is a chimney?
