Here is a photo of a statue of Dom Boa Ventura that stands in Same's town square. Dom Boa Ventura is Same's hero. He defended Same against Portugese invaders many years ago.

At night in Same Max often heard a strange voice calling "Tockay! tockay!" in quite a loud voice. One night he spotted the little creature that made such a big noise. It is a Lizard called a tockay and that is what it says. "Tockay!" It only comes out at night.
A few kilometres away from Same lies Kablaki Mountain. One weekend they set off early in the morning when it was a bit cooler to climb the mountain.
Ulick the mountain guide came with them to show them the way.
First of all they had to visit a Kablaki village to ask the village chief to ask permission to climb Kablaki Mountain.
For the people of East Timor Mount Kablaki is a sacred mountain and the village chief must give his blessing to people to climb the mountain. Here they are approaching the village. All of the houses in the village had thatched roofs.
Here are some of the children in the village.
They climbed higher and higher. At the top of the mountain it was awesome to see how beautiful the land was. At the top of they mountain they prayed for peace for all the people of East Timor.
